They must maintain a tree board or department, have a community tree ordinance, spend at least $2 per capita on community forestry, and celebrate Arbor Day.Īccording to the National Arbor Day Foundation, there are 149 Tree City USA communities throughout New Jersey. To achieve Tree City USA status, communities must meet four standards of sound urban forestry management. In honor of National Arbor Day, the Franklin Township Shade Tree Commission, in collaboration with the Meadows Foundation and local Boy and Girl Scout Troops, will host an Arbor Day Event on Saturday, April 29.
